This is one fun construction toy. I came across this when looking for toys that weren’t made in China and the Quercetti line of Intelligent Toys are all made in Italy. The one pictured here is the 140-piece manual one with about 15 feet of track. They make several models with either more track, or with a motorized elevator that automatically takes the marble back to the top after it’s made the complete run. This one could either be set up as a long path (complete with a loop) or you could build it as a suspension coaster. I tried it with two loops but the marbles lost too much momentum after the first loop to be able to complete a second one. But one of the neat things about this kit is that you can easily combine multiple units and with enough track I’m sure you could have another loop or two. I’d say you could even rig the elevator to work with a long layout as well (instead of just with the suspension coaster).

If you’re looking for one of the marble run roller coasters out there, this one (or one of the other Quercetti models) is the way to go. The models range in price from about $35 to $60 depending on how big of a set you want. The one pictured here is one of the lower end models. These construction sets are not only one of the best science toys you can buy, they’re simply just a lot of fun.
