This is one pretty cool dinosaur replica. Any serious dinosaur toy collector will know the realism of Safari’s Carnegie Museum Collection and this one is no exception. This particular spinosaurus mold was sculpted in 1992 at 1:40 scale and is about nine inches in total length and about six inches high. It is a very solid replica though, and has a nice weighty feel. Of course no one knows for sure what the true color of this dinosaur was, but the paint scheme on this one is truly beautiful and makes it a great addition to any collection. You can’t go wrong with any of the Safari Dinosaur Replicas if you’re serious about collecting. This particular model isn’t a bad choice even if you’re just looking at it as a children’s toy. At about $10 (US) in early 2008, it’s a pretty economical choice as well.
As far as fun science toys go, consider starting a collection of dinosaur replicas. Not only are they great to put on a shelf and look at, they often encourage the child in all of us to imagine what the beast was like in its natural environment. Sparking this curiosity is a great way to get a child interested in paleontology and dinosaurs in general.
