Okay, so this isn’t particularly a science toy, but I’ll make an exception in reviewing is as it is definitely a great educational game. It’s produced by International Playthings and won a Gold Seal Best Toy Award by the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio last year. It comes with 400 question cards which may not seem like a lot, but kids can play this many times without repeating questions. And besides, anyone who knows these questions already is probably a Jeopardy champion anyway. Speaking of that, anyone who aspires to be on Jeopardy would do well to play this game.
Some typical questions: What is the capital of New Jersey? Where is the Football Hall of Fame? What state touches two of the Great Lakes and the Atlantic Ocean? What state produces the most apples?
The game comes with a game board, the 400 question cards, a spinner, mechanical timer and of course, game rules. My overall recommendation: this game is a lot of fun. It’s rated for ages 7 and up and it’s great to play for the entire family when you want some quality time with your youngsters. For under $20, you can pick up the Great States Board Game at Atomic Elephant Toy. They’re mostly a store for science toys, but they do carry an assortment of educational toys and learning games as well.
