Science Toy Review

This is a pretty cool kit by SmartLab Toys- one of the best makers of educational science toys and kits around. This one comes with a small planetarium and solar system model. What I think makes SmartLab Toys one of the best toy suppliers is the great books each kit comes with. Most are geared toward ages 6 and up, but there is plenty of good information for up to about age 12 as well.

This particular one, the SmartLab Stars and Planets kit should cost you about $19. While the planet mobile is pretty basic, it would be pretty fun for most younger kids. The book has a few pages of star charts in the back (broken down by months), instructions on how to assemble the planet mobile and a guide on how to use the planetarium. I have to say that as basic as this kit looked and as economical as it was, it’s very educational. It didn’t take too long for my 6-year-old and me to put it together, but we spent the next couple of nights at story time reading the book. And that is what makes this kit worth well more than its cost. Overall review- highly recommended.
