This is one pretty cool new kit for SmartLab, the makers of the ever-popular grade challenge books- ie., their SmartLab 1st Grade Challenge (and 2nd through 4th as well). This new one is a bit bigger than the rest of their science kits. The anatomically correct human model (that you can actually see through) is pretty lifelike. You can remove the vital organs for closer inspection. What kid wouldn’t want to pull out the squishy intestines and look under the skeleton’s rib cage? The manufacturer’s description says: “With this hands-on kit and tour guide, kids enter the twisted world of the human body. Complete with removable vital organs as well as representative skeletal, vascular and muscular systems, kids explore the complex inner workings of the human body and literally see how they all go together!”
I have to admit, this is a pretty accurate description. Plus, the book it comes with is really excellent. It’s about 32 pages, but they’re big pages, and each contains a lot of information. As far as cool science toys go, I would rank this one as one of the best. If you’re looking to buy a SmartLab Human Body model, you can pick one up here.
