This is one outstanding physics kit. I was lucky enough to get to mess around with one of these science kits recently and I was amazed at the level of detail the physical experiments entailed. The instruction manual is simply awesome. It’s almost as much a physics textbook as it is a manual for a toy.

The primary topics in this is the study of two of the most important fluids in the world - air and water. Students will learn the properties of air and water as it flows and their static properties. How do ships float? How do airplanes fly? The physics behind these phenomena is a great study of fluid dynamics. Thames & Kosmos is well known for making some of the best and most educational science kits available anywhere. Their chemistry sets are unmatched for quality and these physics kits are equally as educational.

As far as science toys go, this kit is really the top of the line. In fact, while the experiments you can do with it are pretty fun, this can hardly be called a toy. This kit is for ages 10 and up which in my estimate is a pretty good guideline. This kit will be a bit too advanced for kids much younger than that. I could see a gifted 9 year old understanding some of the principles but I wouldn’t recommend it for most 9 year olds. One of the best aspects of this one is that it’s a pretty solid kit for early teenagers as well. A middle schooler or younger high school student about to study physics would definitely benefit from learning the principles in this one. My overall recommendation: this is one of the best kits available. While a bit pricey (about $100 US), it will give any student a solid foundation in physics.
